Caramel Cake

Sticky Toffee Apple Caramel Cake

This recipe was taken from The Great British Bake Off book page 42. I changed the recipe slightly and used a plain caramel buttercream instead of a cream cheese caramel buttercream. I'm not a huge fan of cream cheese frostings. This was my first attempt at making caramel from scratch and I managed not to burn it. I have to admit that I watched many bakers on the show burn their caramel before attempting to make it myself. You have to watch it closely and make sure not to stir it. I wished I had made more buttercream to completely cover the cake. My family really enjoyed this one. It took me about 4 hours to make with a few breaks.
